David Aristizabal directs films influenced by his views on social and political issues, and is an editor on fiction and documentary films. David is currently a Film Independent Project Involve Fellow for editing. Recently, he was post production supervisor for Academy Award winning director, Mark Harris's, multi-documentary-based web site called Interacting With Autism.

His USC thesis film, A Second Chance, won a Student Academy Award Gold Medal for documentary in 2013. It is about a military veteran's struggle dealing with post traumatic stress disorder and his relationship with a dog he rescues that helps alleviate the pain. Other shorts include 1000 Pesos Colombianos, a fiction film about forged coins that travel through society, and Berlinale official selection, Penalty, a documentary short about how soccer brings a truce to the biggest prison in Colombia.

David Aristizabal is from Bogota, Colombia. He attended the National University of Colombia in Bogota for Film Production. He continued his studies further, pursuing a specialization in economics and finally arriving at USC School of Cinematic Arts, where he earned a M.F.A. in  Film and Television Production in 2012.
